The only museum in Portugal dedicated to the accordion.

The Museum of Costumes and Traditions of São Bartolomeu de Messines displays pieces related to the popular traditions of that town, from the late 19th century, early 20th century.

The history of Portimão is deeply intertwined with the natural resources of the Mediterranean matrix of its territory and with the strong river and maritime relationship.

The River Museum (Museu do Rio), in the small village of Guerreiros do Rio, near Alcoutim, preserves traditions, techniques, artifacts and memories linked to the Guadiana River and the riverside populations. It portrays the heritage related to the river, resorting to the study of the natural heritage, fluvial ethnography, local history and industrial archeology linked to the river, shipbuilding, tidal mills, etc.

Located in the old city center, the Municipal Museum of Archeology is installed in the building where the City Hall used to be, until the end of the 80s.

Casa do Sal (Salt House) portrays the traditional way of producing sea salt, an activity with a long history in this village.

The Marim Environmental Education Center, at Ria Formosa Natural Park, has the exhibition "Ria Formosa" and has 5 additional exhibition spaces, covering topics such as the region's natural and cultural heritage, geo-morphology, lagoon dynamics, habitats, flora and fauna, with emphasis on the waterfowl and migrations, archaeology, history and economic activities in this protected area of 60 hectares.

The Faro Municipal Museum includes a significant archaeological collection, with various objects from prehistory and the Roman and medieval times.

The Convento de São José (Convent of São José) serves the cultural activity of the municipality of Lagoa, hosting various cultural events and temporary exhibitions during the year.

Ecoteca de Olhão / Chalé-Museu João Lúcio, also known as Chalé João Lúcio, in addition to the cultural activities present in its galleries, such as exhibitions and musical events, is also a space that promotes the relationship between humans and nature, through numerous environmental education activities.

Founded in 1930, the museum Dr. José Formosinho quickly developed into a multidisciplinary museum with valuable and unique collections. Its assets include archaeology, sacred art, history of Lagos, ethnography of the Algarve, painting, numismatics, mineralogy and overseas ethnography.

The Municipal Museum of Loulé is the headquarters of a structure of several museum spaces that exist in the municipality and is installed on the ground floor of the castle of Loulé.

The Cerro da Vila Archaeological Station, in Vilamoura, is a historical record of the successive civilizations that settled in this area of the Algarve and here remained for nine centuries, namely Romans, Visigoths and Arabs.

The Water Museum Pole, in the village of Querença, is a center for the interpretation of water, one of the riches of this parish.

The Municipal Museum of Olhão is housed in the former “Casa do Compromisso Marítimo”, a building dating from the late 18th century.

In the Historic Center of São Brás de Alportel you will find Casa do Artesão (Craftsman's House), part of the Arts and Crafts Centre, a space for the exhibition and promotion of local handicrafts and a journey through the memory of past eras that remain alive in this space.

The Explanatory and Reception Center of the “Calçadinha” (Centro Explicativo e de Acolhimento da “Calçadinha”) of São Brás de Alportel centralizes the works and archaeological findings of the municipality in a single space.

The Museu do Traje (Costume Museum) of São Brás de Alportel, in addition to the exhibition to which the name refers, offers the permanent exhibitions “Cork land”, “Agricultural houses” and “Horse Karts”, among other temporary exhibitions that take place throughout the year. The space also hosts shows, lectures and much more.

The Municipal Museum of Archaeology of Silves was built around an Almohad Cistern Well from the 12th-13th centuries, which became part of the museum's collection.

The Municipal Museum of Tavira, housed in the former Palácio da Galeria, hosts exhibitions about the history of the county and contemporary artistic expressions.

The Islamic Museum is the most recent addition to the Municipal Museum of Tavira, opened in February 2012.

The Museum Nucleus of Cachopo, in the village that gives it its name, has addressed the theme of the interior of the county's territory since prehistoric times. From the mountain way of life there is a universe of traditional knowledge of blacksmiths, packers, weavers and others, essentially linked to agricultural cycles, stories and individual paths that lead the visitor through the transformations of a rural territory of great scenic and social value.

The Vila do Bispo Interpretation Center is located in the space of the old local market, originally built in the early 20th century and traditionally known as “Lota dos Perceves”.

The Manuel Cabanas Museum displays an exhibition of xylogravure art (wood engraving. It contains the largest collection of wood engravings in the country, with more than 200 stones used in the lithographic printing of the old packages of canned sardines and tuna.

Located in the center of Odeleite, the Casa de Odeleite Museological Nucleus shows exhibitions, documentation and a recreation of traditional regional environments, with several old recovered pieces.

This museum equipment makes it possible to discover the connection between Lagos and the slave trade that existed here in the 15th century, offering a new perspective on this dark period in the history of Portugal.
